Transitioning away from Classic Manager: Unlock New Opportunities with Trackunit Manager

Updated today

As the industry evolves, so do the tools that empower your business. To help you stay ahead, it's time to transition from Classic Manager to a more advanced solution that enhances efficiency and unlocks new possibilities.

Classic Manager will be discontinued for all users. It is important that you start familiarizing yourself with the new Trackunit Manager platform as soon as possible.

Why Are We Moving Away from Classic Manager?

Performance

Classic Manager has been a reliable solution, but the latest version of Trackunit Manager is built for the future of IoT and software capabilities. With enhanced tools and features that go beyond Classic Manager’s infrastructure, the new platform helps you work more efficiently.

From advanced data insights to streamlined workflows, the latest version is designed to boost productivity and support your daily operations.

Security

As technology evolves, so do the standards for cybersecurity. The underlying platform for Classic Manager will no longer be supported by leading third-party cybersecurity vendors, making it crucial to transition to a more secure and robust solution.

The latest version of Trackunit Manager ensures your data remains protected while adhering to the highest security standards.

Scalability

Classic Manager was built with a specific use case in mind, but your business has likely grown and evolved since. The latest version of Trackunit Manager is a dynamic, extendable data platform designed to grow with your business.

Whether you are managing a single project or scaling operations across multiple regions, this platform is built to support your ambitions.

Use Case Comparisons

We know that any transition raises questions, so here’s a clear comparison of key features to help you navigate the shift from Classic Manager to the latest version.

Alarms → Alerts

Trackunit Manager introduces Alerts as a smarter, more consolidated way to handle asset activity, theft detection, and sensor triggers. Several Classic Alarm types have been merged or retired for a cleaner setup experience.

Zones & POIs → Sites

Zones and Points of Interest (POIs) have been unified into Sites in Trackunit Manager. This change simplifies how you define and monitor geographic areas where assets operate. Sites support alert configuration, utilization tracking, and automated event logging—all from a single, intuitive setup.

While legacy Zone- and POI-based alarms are being phased out, Sites provide a more robust and scalable way to manage location-based insights.

Clients → Customers

The Clients module in Classic Manager has been replaced with Customers in Trackunit Manager. While the terminology has changed, the core use case remains: organizing your asset assignments by company, group, or contact.

The new Customers feature offers a cleaner interface, easier contact management, and better integration with fleet settings—making day-to-day coordination and visibility simpler for users and administrators alike.

Alarm Log → Attention List

In Classic Manager, the Alarm Log provided a centralized list of triggered alarms. In Trackunit Manager, this function is now handled by the Attention List, which offers improved filtering, prioritization, and sorting.

While SMS notifications are no longer supported, users can still stay updated via email alerts or enable real-time mobile notifications through the Trackunit On app.

Services → Service Management

Service Management in Trackunit Manager builds on the familiar service planning tools from Classic Manager but adds greater functionality. Users can now book services in advance, set up automated email reminders, and track service history more efficiently across their fleet.

The updated interface also makes it easier to manage upcoming tasks, completed work, and service-related alerts—all in one place.

User Roles & Permissions

User roles and permissions in Trackunit Manager offer a more flexible and granular approach to managing access.

Compared to Classic Manager, you can now define roles based on specific actions (view, edit, assign) and assign different access levels to teams, not just individuals—giving you more control over how users interact with data.

Map & Navigation Updates

The map in Trackunit Manager has been redesigned for better performance and usability. Features like asset clustering, asset cards, and improved filters make it easier to monitor and navigate large fleets.

The navigation bar has also been simplified for faster access to key modules like Sites, Alerts, and Reports.

New capabilities in Asset Home

In Asset Home you can get all the relevant information you need about a specific asset.

Uncover an assets whereabouts and get a full picture of where the asset was when an issue occurred. Instead of using the History Report in Classic Manager, you can now find this information in the Movement Tab in Asset home

Use Asset Home to remotely diagnose an asset. Find asset input data under Insights in the Advanced Sensor Section

See and assign CAN profiles to telematics devices under the Telematics tab in Asset Home (individual assets). In the Telematics tab you can also see and rename Input 1-6 on Raw devices so they match the connected accessory on the asset.

You can also assign CAN profiles to multiples assets at once from the Device Administration tab where you can also get a full overview of all your Trackunit IoT devices.

Migrate Classic Features to Trackunit Manager

Admins and Fleet Admins will have the opportunity throughout this migration period to self-migrate most of the features noted above.
