💡 Tip: This article explains how to add an asset with a QR or barcode in the Trackunit Go app.
If your machine already has a QR or barcode physically attached, you can use the Trackunit Go app to connect it to the corresponding asset. This makes the asset identifiable in the system, regardless of which telematics device is connected - even if no device is installed at all.
Note: The QR or barcode needed to register the asset for the purpose of inspections is located on the asset itself. It is not to be confused with the QR code located on certain Trackunit devices, such as a Kin device.
This is especially handy when an inspection template is assigned to the asset in Trackunit Manager. Once an inspection template has been added to the asset, the operators can then scan the QR or barcode on the asset with the Trackunit On app to retrieve and complete the inspection of the asset directly in the field.
Note: Inspections require two apps working together:
Trackunit Go - This app is used to add assets and assign a QR or barcode. You log in with your Trackunit Manager credentials.
Trackunit On - Used by operators to scan the QR or barcode and perform inspections on-site. Each operator creates their own operator profile to access the app.
Assigning a QR or barcode in Trackunit Go only enables scanning for completing inspections. To make inspections available, you must also assign an inspection template to the asset in Trackunit Manager.
