The Inspection feature in the Trackunit On app enables operators to perform guided pre-use checks on mobile devices, instantly report issues, and automatically store records for improved safety and compliance.
The Inspections feature is available with an IrisX subscription only. Reach out to your Sales Representative for more information.
Once a Trackunit Manager account admin has set up an inspection template for an asset, the operator of the asset needs to complete the inspection using the Trackunit On app before using the asset.
💡 Tip: If you already have an account and have joined your organization in the On app, skip to the article section Complete the inspection of the asset
Downloading and logging into the On app
Start by downloading the On app and creating an account
Open the app and tap Create an account.
Enter your full name (your name will be visible to your organization).
Enter your phone number.
Await a code via SMS.
Confirm your phone number with the SMS code.
Create a password for your account and tap Continue
Enable Bluetooth and Location.
Join your Organization
If you have already been added as an operator by your organization, the invitation to join your organization will pop up automatically when you create your account.
Alternatively, you can find the invitation in the app menu:
Tap on Menu in the bottom right corner.
Tap on Organizations.
Tap on View next to the organization.
Tap Join now.
Note:
If you don’t see an automatic pop-up to join your organization when logging in and there are no invitations under the "Organizations" tab, it means you haven’t been added to any organization yet.
In this case, you’ll need to:
Contact your Trackunit Manager account admin to have them set you up as an operator
Alternatively, reach out to your immediate manager. If they are designated as a Key Admin, they can also assign assets to you in Trackunit Manager.
Complete the inspection of the asset
An admin from the organization will have assigned you access to the assets you will operate and inspect.
There are two ways to identify the asset in front of you:
Fleet List
If you have a digital key (a digital access credential assigned by your admin), you can tap on Fleet in the bar at the bottom of the screen, and find the asset from the Fleet list.
If an inspection template has been assigned to the asset, you can see the option to tap on Inspection
Scanner
You can also identify the asset with the Scan functionality (mandatory if you do not have a digital key)
Tap the three dots in the top right corner and then tap on Change Organization. Make sure you have chosen the organization that owns the asset you are about to inspect.
If you need to change the asset identifier, tap on the identifier icon in the lower right corner. Here you can select license plate, barcode, QR code or asset ID.
💡 Tip: Cannot find the asset? See troubleshooting tips
4. After identifying the asset, you can see the options to tap on Inspection. If you do not have a digital key, the inspection option will appear directly on the screen after scanning the asset.
Inspect the asset
Go through the inspection questions.
If the asset meets the condition described, tap Continue.
If the asset does not meets the condition described, tap Report.
When you report a fault, you can describe the issue and add an photo.
Tap Submit.
Results of the Inspection
After you have completed the inspection, you'll see one of three screens depending on the result of the inspection:
Safe to operate – no issues found: You'll see this screen if the assets passed all questions. You can proceed to unlocking the asset with key codes
Operate with caution – minor issues detected: You'll see this screen if you reported certain faults on the asset, but those faults have not been marked as critical by the creator of the inspection template. You can proceed to unlocking the asset with key codes but with caution.
Do not operate this asset: You'll see this screen because you have reported a critical fault on the asset and you should not operate this asset. The Trackunit Manager account admin will be notified that the asset needs to be investigated to ensure continued safe operation.
I cannot find the asset with the scanner
If the app cannot identify the asset with the scanner functionality, it might be because of one of the following reasons:
You are not in the right organization. When scanning, tap the three dots in the top right corner and then tap on Change Organization. Make sure you have chosen the organization that owns the asset you are about to inspect.
You are not using the right asset identifier. The manager of your organization will determine what asset identifier is used to identify the asset. If you cannot find the asset via the scanner, you need to contact your manager.
Once you know how to identify the asset, tap the asset identifier icon in the lower right corner and choose between license plate, barcode, QR code or asset ID.
