Device Administration Overview

Use Device Administration in Trackunit Manager to assign CAN profiles, set Operating Modes, and identify devices in need of troubleshooting.

The Devices tab under the Administration page gives you a complete overview of your IoT devices and allows you to configure essential device settings for one or more devices.

Under the Device tab you can:

  • Assign CAN profiles to your devices

  • Change Operating Mode of your devices

  • Add Wi-Fi profiles to your devices

  • Track Bulk Configurations

  • Identify and troubleshoot devices that are not syncing

Assign CAN profiles to your devices

Get even more data from your assets by setting up and assigning CAN profiles to your devices.

Change Device Operating Mode of your devices

Select the desired Operating Mode of your device to optimize reporting and maximize battery life of your devices.

Operating Modes are available on Trackunit Raw devices. Each Operating Mode serves a different operational need.

Add Wi-Fi profiles to your devices

Wi-Fi profiles allow your device to maintain reliable connectivity in environments where cellular coverage is limited or unavailable, such as indoor sites, underground locations, or large facilities.

Track bulk configurations

If you have used Device Administration to configure devices in bulk (you have configured more than one device at a time), you can track the status of the configuration under the Bulk Configuration Updates tab.

Use the progress bar to see how the update is progressing, check Result to quickly see if any updates failed, and click on the Name to view details including the list of devices that were updated.

Identify and troubleshoot devices that are not syncing

If any of the configurations applied in Device Administration fail or are stuck in pending, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the device’s serial number to open its Telematics page.

  2. Check for key status indicators like Power, GPS, Cellular, and Connection.
