The Device Health app in Trackunit Manager helps you monitor and troubleshoot device connectivity issues.

It gives you visibility into your devices’ health, highlights connectivity problems, and recommends actions to resolve them.

Navigating Device Health

You can find the Device Health app under Apps in the left navigation bar.

When you open the app, you’ll see the following tabs:

  • Overview: Shows how well your assets are connected and highlights devices that need attention

  • Devices: Lists all devices with their key data and filter options

  • Data Feeds: Shows the data feeds currently connected to your account

Note: This guide focuses on the Overview tab - the main dashboard to quickly assess the devices’ connection status, review key performance indicators (KPIs), and identify assets affected by connectivity issues.

Using the Overview tab

The Overview tab summarizes your overall device health.

It is built of two parts:

  • Two rows of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • A Device Issue Table

Key Performance Indicators

The KPIs help you understand how your assets are performing.

  1. Overview KPIs

The Overview row includes three KPIs.

    • Fleet: The number of assets actively tracked with devices

    • Impact: The percentage of your fleet affected by device health issues

    • Recovered: The number of assets that have recovered and are no longer affected by device issues in the past 14 days

Click View list to see which assets have fully recovered

  2. Issues KPIs

The Issues row focuses on ongoing device problems. Each issue belongs to one of four categories, and a device can have issues in multiple categories at once.

Category

Description

Issues

Non reporting devices

Number of devices that are not sending any data

"Data not received":

  • Triggered when no data has been received for more than two days (only active devices are monitored)

Device battery

Number of devices affected by unstable power or low battery voltage

"Low device input voltage":

  • Triggered when the external power supply is unstable or disconnected

"Low device battery voltage":

  • Triggered when the device’s internal battery voltage is critically low and at risk of depletion

Coverage

Number of devices experiencing poor GPS or cellular connectivity

"Low GPS coverage":

  • Triggered when the device consistently reports low GPS signal quality

"Low cellular coverage":

  • Triggered when the device reports low cellular signal strength or when data is considerably delayed in reaching our telematics platform Iris

Installation and configuration

Number of devices not optimally connected or configured to assets

"Unusual operating hours":

  • Triggered when a device shows abnormal activity patterns, such as always reporting 0 or 24 operating hours, or a fluctuation in total operating hours

"No CAN data":

  • Triggered when the device is wired to an asset’s CANbus but cannot capture CAN data due to a configuration issue

💡 Tip: You will find specific troubleshooting advice for each issue in the side panel when clicking on an affected asset.

Device Issue Table

The Overview tab also displays the Device Issue Table. This table lists all assets affected by device health issues.

You can use filters and issue categories to refine your view.

Table Columns

  • Device Status: Indicates the severity of the device’s health issues

  • Issues: Lists the active issues detected on the device

  • Asset: The impacted asset. Click on the asset's name to open Asset Home

  • Device: The impacted device

  • Last occurrence: The last time an issue was detected on the device

Side panel

Click any row in the Device Issue Table to open the side panel.

The side panel provides detailed information about the selected device, including its active issues and recommended actions for recovery.

Tabs in the Side Panel:

  • Overview: Displays key device values and a list of active issues. Each issue includes a short description and a recommended action for troubleshooting.

  • History: Shows previously detected issues and the time they were resolved.

💡 Tip: You can also open the side panel for devices without active issues. Go to the Devices tab and click on a specific device to view its details.
