2. Navigate the welcome screen
From the Trackunit Fit welcome screen, you can:
Access Installation guides with manuals and instructions
Tap Start installation to begin a new setup
Review and Continue installations in progress
3. Begin a new installation
Prepare for installation
On the welcome screen, tap Start installation. You’ll be guided through:
Specify device: Scan or enter the device serial number.
Confirm device: Review the scan results and tap Add device.
Asset registration: Select the asset you are connecting the device to. This step helps confirm CAN eligibility and ensures the asset is correctly registered in Trackunit Manager.
4. Perform the physical installation
You can complete the wiring before or after registering the device and asset. Registering device and asset first, guides you in terms of CAN eligibility.
Connect the power wire.
For wiring instructions, open Service Guides in the app
If the machine is CAN-eligible, connect the two CAN wires as well
Review device values in the Device details section on Install Home to understand the device connections:
Machine power supply
Telematics battery charge
Mobile signal
Bluetooth RSSI
This helps identify issues such as weak signal or low battery levels.
Tap Device section for detailed values and changing its settings:
Input filtering
Use this if the asset has a battery negative disconnect switch
It changes the ground reference for inputs from the blue wire to the pink wire, ensuring correct input status and accurate battery voltage
To enable this, connect the pink wire to the chassis ground
Output mode
Automatically enabled when the output ground is active on the device
You can toggle this on/off to force output or perform relay-enabled testing
Inputs configuration
Adjust input settings to align with local standards
Gain additional insights from the device by customizing input usage
5. Validate the installation
To confirm wiring and configuration, you must validate the installation. This is fundamental for the device to be operating optimally.
Note: For this step, you'll need to interact with the asset directly.
On Install Home, tap Certification.
Follow the five-step validation flow tailored to the machine you are installing on, specifically if dependent on engine type and if you are installing with Access Management:
Machine off – Ensure the machine is off. Trackunit Fit validates inputs
Ignition on – Switch ignition on. Inputs are validated
Running – Start the engine. Inputs are validated
CAN validation – If the asset is CAN-eligible, Fit provides the correct CAN profile and confirms if CAN data is captured
Shutdown – Turn the engine off. Inputs are validated
