How do I use the Utilization app in Trackunit Manager?

The Utilization app can help you get the details on utilization hours without wasting time calling around to job sites.

Updated today

Managing a growing fleet of machines across multiple job sites can quickly become complex.

The Utilization app helps you gain visibility into how your assets are being used - making it easier to optimize operations, reduce costs, and increase uptime.

The Utilization app is available on the Evolve and Expand pricing packages. Reach out to your Sales Representative for more information.

What you can do with the Utilization app

The Utilization app is especially valuable when you want to:

  • Identify unused assets in your fleet

  • Right-size your fleet using utilization data grouped by asset types

  • Find and relocate underutilized assets

  • Avoid over-utilization, which could lead to breakdowns and downtime

  • Save fuel and transit time by transferring assets to the closest site

  • Improve customer experience by tracking asset usage at specific locations

How to use the Utilization app

  • Log in to Trackunit Manager

  • Click on the Utilization app in the navigation bar on the left

On the Utilization page, you can find the following key features:

Widgets:

  • Quickly spot unused or heavily utilized assets

  • Click on any bar in the interactive chart to filter the asset list and the map view

  • Click again to clear the filter and return to the full fleet view

Map:

  • The Map shows a color-coded asset utilization:

    • Red = Unused

    • Blue = Normal usage

    • Yellow = Heavily utilized

    • Black = N/A ("not available")

Zoom in on clusters, or click individual assets for detailed information.

💡 Tip: If your assets are classified as N/A, it means no utilization data is available for the selected period. This status can result from various causes, not just issues within the Utilization app.

When no utilization data is available, other features such as Insights and Reports will also be affected, as they rely on the same data inputs.

To troubleshoot the issue, please refer to the following guides based on your device type:

Customize view:

  • Use Filter button at the top of the page to narrow results, e.g. by:

    • Sites

    • Period

    • Hour interval

    • Asset Type

Example: Filter for boom lifts with low utilization to identify units that could be relocated

Asset list:

  • View a list of all assets or a selection based on your filters

  • Click any asset to go directly to its Asset home page for detailed usage data and performance metrics
